CORONAVIRUS: Jadon Sancho, Ben Chiwell breaks protocols at surprise birthday party for Tammy Abraham

The England internationals celebrated the Chelsea forward’s 23rd birthday, breaking Covid-19 rules which state groups of more than six cannot mix.

Abraham has apologised for the incident and insisted that he was not aware of the celebration before he arrived, with the footage showing his shocked reaction as girlfriend Leah Monroe and around 20 others – including Sancho and chilwell – sang happy birthday to him.

The incident has fueled speculation that Sancho’s absence from the Dortmund squad may be more than just illness, with United continuing to try and sign the forward before Monday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

The FA confirmed to Sky Sports News it is aware of the incident, with the trio’s arrival at St George’s Park on Monday delayed until further investigation into the allegations.

However, it is unlikely Abraham, Chilwell or Sancho will be dropped on medical grounds, unless they are found to be coronavirus-positive when tested on entry into the England camp.

However, Southgate is yet to decide whether Abraham, Chilwell and Sancho should be made an example of for breaching the ‘rule of six’, with FA officials feeling this is a very different scenario.

Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood were already inside England’s secure eco-bubble when they broke the rules, whereas Abraham, Chilwell and and Sancho were partying in their free time before they entered England’s bio-secure environment.
