Shatta Wale was very blunt on Hitz 103.9fm on the evening of Sunday, November 1, 2020 in a latest interview with King Lagazee on Yaad Settingz when he said Ghanaian artistes don’t support each other realistically.
In Shatta Wale’s own words, he says, “You the presenters have tried and keep trying your best to promote us. But when it comes to us the musicians we don’t seem to push each other well. Most artistes don’t understand their scope of work — there is rebellion and stubborn attitude towards work so we don’t see the results on our song or album patronage in terms of huge streams”.
Shatta Wale says sometimes he employs the radical approach to get results but on the other side he has been chastised for it.
“Most of us didn’t have orientation for the music job so it has made some musicians stuck. When a grotto driver’s car breaks down he goes to the mechanic; as musicians too when we have problems we have a Union (MUSIGA) that we need to go to but the Union is not functioning to the benefit of us Musicians, which is another big problem”, Shatta Wale added.
He was speaking to King Lagazee on “Yaad Settingz”, Ghana’s biggest Reggae/Dancehall magazine on radio — airs every Sunday between 8:00pm to 10:00pm.
