Introducing PzeeFire, the Nigerian artist who taps inspiration from Kwame Nkrumah till date

Pzeefire is not the regular type of artist who does music for the fun of it but for the purpose it serves and souls it feeds. In an exclusive interview with Christian Agyemang on Onua FM a week ago, he made mention of Ex President Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as someone he looks up to even after his demise in terms of logical reasoning, smartness, and Pan African mindset.

In any case, the personality and details behind the brand “PzeeFire” is, he is Nigerian alternative songwriter, performer, rapper/singer who combines different genres of music with an authentic African vibe to produce his unique Afrofusion sound. He grew up with the passion for music and started professionally in 2017 with his debut single “Too Late”, sparking the fire to his music career.

One will be wandering his thoughts, asking the meaning of PzeeFire? Here’s how the name was coined, “P Z E E” is more or less an abbreviation that stands for “Passion Zeal Energy Effort”. The “Fire” is a representation of the energy in the music and performance of his art. That been said, i call him the Prince of modern urban afrofusion music. The fire in his music, performance, vocals, shirtless brand image, style and originality makes him different from every other artist you know.

In extension, his expressive nature makes it easy to pass messages to his listeners in a way they can relate almost immediately. He puts you in the scene of every story or song he sings. His sound is a unique blend of original African sounds (Afrobeat, Juju) and various genres ranging from, Hip-Hop, Jazz, R&B and more. A few others including himself categorise the genre as “Afrofusion”. His appreciation and love for different kind of sounds can be traced to back then when his dad would always play beautiful instrumentals of violins and saxophones on their way to school/work.

He comes from a family of 5, was born and raised in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria. A very strong Christian home he comes from where he never missed any Sunday church service. He had his basic education at Royal Family Academy just before he moved to Accra, Ghana. Then went on to Seven Great Prince Academy for his senior years. Currently, he’s pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Management at Central University.

As an artist, he is poised to paint vivid images of the remarkable African stories companied with personalities who hold legendary African status. Its a clear evidence of him having the Pan African elements. Adequately, he wants to save Africans from the chains that still holds them in captive. Furthermore, he’s determined to empower them and arm them with the knowledge and wisdom to break them free.

The dazzling secret to his music is, it carries heavy messages in disguise with sweet soft melodies. The little bits of sanity that was left in Africa, little acts of love we still show ourselves sometimes and the pain he sees in the eyes of beggars on the street on a daily basis inspires the best songs on his mental creative tablet. He prefers music over picking up the gun to fight corruption. Corrupt leaders and activities also inspire him to pen down lyrics motivated to lash out leaders with corrupt mindset.

Music is the only thing he does with ease and lots of time investment. He’s devoted to using music as a tool to be able to speak to people for them to listen. He wants the messages in his music to be the key to life as he’s aware it will travel round the world for people to hear, find peace and be liberated.

His biggest challenge as an artist has to do with fighting family members who don’t believe in what he does or thinks can be beneficial.

As a Pan African, he believes mental freedom is the only way to educate the masses. But music is the only weapon that can ensure our freedom. He gives you songs from the soul, unadulterated and spiritual intertwined with deep seeded lyrics. When it comes to party songs, he’s an expert at it.

Currently signed to Speech Production, he released his first single featuring label mate Kiyo Dee on a song titled Flashy Lights. Followed by I Got You, Ten Stacks etc. His debut EP titled Hustle & Heart took the No.1 spot on the iTunes Alternative Music Chart on the first week of release.

He has worked with a clan of amazing producers that the world is yet to recognize. The likes of Doozy Beats, PD, Ran$om Beats, Revy Boadu And a few others. Moving forward, he would love to work with Juls (Ghana), Mut4y (Nigeria), Guilty Beatz (Ghana) and Kel P (Nigeria). Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, Jidenna, M.anifest, EL, AI and few other acts are people he would love to work on projects with.

He has performed on platforms like
• Jack Daniel’s Music Fest ‘19,
• Challewote Festival ‘19,
• YFM Music Show ‘18.
