Get familiar with one of Ghana’s international reggae exports, Kwame Bediako

International reggae recording artist, Ghanaian-born Kwame Bediako continues his mission of roots and culture with a call for global unity and social justice. Kwame’s music is singular in its pairing of deep metaphor and social commentary with a sing-along pop sensibility. He enlists a simple sophistication at its core that appeals multi-culturally and unites generations with a positive message.

Kwame Bediako has been showcased internationally and never disappoints with his electrifying performances. He has been honoured to participate in the United Nations-sponsored “International People of Afrikan Descent” tour to spread his culturally significant message. Kwame has shared the bill with The Wailers, Third World, Mutabaruka, Pato Banton, Sonny Ade, Wailing Souls, Sonny Okusun and many others. With the inclusion of his song “Stepping Into Zion” on the world archival label Putumayo Record’s release, “African Reggae”, Kwame Bediako has cemented his place among the notables of a now global genre.

With the release of his fourth studio album “World Disorder”, a critically acclaimed collection of conscious roots reggae with themes exploring the human condition and spiritual integrity, Kwame Bediako once again has met the benchmark. Produced with participation from Sidney Mills – Steel Pulse/SPI Music, Aston Barrett Jr. – The Wailers, Georges Kouakou – Alpha Blondy and other notables, the influence of many generations of reggae tradition shines through.

As one of the originators of Ghanaian reggae alongside other artists like Rocky Dawuni, Kwame has been the recipient of many industry awards including Martin International’s Reggae Music Award for “Best Artist”. Kwame says, “To educate and entertain is the goal. We are proponents of the knowledge of the self. We are taking learning beyond the traditional classroom.”

Kwame Bediako might be best known for the classic song ‘One Man No Dub’ from his “Forward Ever” album, which still garners airplay 20 years after its release. His seminal masterpiece, “How Sweet It Is”, re-released as a 25th Anniversary Special Edition, is culturally focused on themes of Pan-Africanism and colonial context.

His entire catalogue is now available for streaming on all major platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube Music.
