A consortium of Ghanaian real estate stakeholders will in March 2025 hold events in Canada and the United States to facilitate property acquisition back home for Ghanaians in those territories.
Dubbed Diaspora Property Expo (DPE) 2025, the two-part programme was officially launched at the Accra Marriott Hotel, Airport City, on November 20 2024.
DPE 2025 is scheduled for the Marriott Centre Hotel, Ontario, Canada from March 21 to March 23 and then from March 28 to March 30 at the World Trade Centre of Greater Philadelphia in the United States.
The project is being organised by outfits including Diaspora Property Investment Ltd; Made In Ghana Consulting Ltd, Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), Ministry of Works and Housing, Nkunim Diaspora City of Mankessim,Global Handlings Shipping Limited (GHSL) and other partners.
Mr Sidney Justin Tehoda, Country Director of Diaspora Property Expo LLC said at the launch that a key aim of DPE 2025 is to create a trusted forum where industry players can meet, interact and trade with confidence, facilitate connections, amplify opportunities and champion credibility in every transaction.
Mr. Tehoda assured exhibitors that their investment in DPE 2025 would bring them into contact with the right audience, individuals and groups genuinely interested in real estate opportunities in Ghana.
Over 57 Ghanaian property developers, real estate experts/agencies, financial service providers (mortgage financiers) design agencies have applied to participate in DPE 2025 which will embrace a conference, an exhibition, panel discussions and an investment clinic.
Mr. Roland Thomas, CEO of GHSL and a member of the Local Planning Board in charge of Sponsorship & Exhibitions, pointed out that DPE 2025 would be a platform to showcase the best real estate projects in Ghana and allow professionals in the sector to connect directly with potential buyers.
Mr Patrick Ebo Bonful, President of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), stated that his association was happy to be part of DPE 2025 which seeks to move the real estate business forward and to give customers the opportunity to have access to good quality, reasonably priced housing.
Renowned Ghanaian lawyer, Mr Tsatsu Tsikata, was a guest at the launch and spoke on the theme: ‘Harnessing the Full Potential of the Real Estate Industry in Ghana: An All-Hands-On-Deck Approach.’
He told the stakeholders in the real estate sector that the success of what they were going to do in Canada and the US, and maybe elsewhere later, depended very much on the image of Ghana in the wider world.
“In that regard, as you look forward to the event in March next year, I dare say you have a vested interest in ensuring that Ghana goes through the forthcoming December elections and coming out of them as a peaceful, democratic and stable country,” MrTsikata stated.
Mr. Julius Ossom, President, of Aim 2 Impact, DPE 2025’s official partner in Canada, was at the Accra launch. He said Canada was ready for DPE 2025 and that the right investors, property developers, stakeholders and people genuinely committed to the future of Ghana’s real estate business would be on hand for fruitful deliberations.
Mr. Kofi Nartey, CEO of Beverley Hills-based Globl RED LLC, DPE 2025’s US partner, referred to the project as a powerful platform for making impactful connections, creating opportunities and bridging the gap between the diaspora and Ghana’s property market. He gave an assurance that DPE 2025 would be a resounding success.
In a solidarity message at the launch, Madam Ayishatu Abdallah who represented the Minister of Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, praised the organisers for their forward-thinking initiative and pledged the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s support for a successful DPE 2025.
The North America launch of DPE 2025 will be on January 22, 2025 at the Ghana Embassy in Washington DC with road shows targeting over 25 states and cities in the US and Canada before the main programme in March 2025.
