Ghanaian musician Muzic Mensah recently revealed on the radio show Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio that he spent 10 years in the gospel music industry before a lack of support led him to transition to secular music.
Muzic Mensah, who has been active since 2012, explained that he dedicated a full decade of his career to gospel music. Despite his efforts, he felt that music promoters and industry stakeholders were not supporting his work, which prompted his decision to shift genres. He now refers to himself as a “musician,” highlighting his versatility across different styles.
Muzic Mensah’s first secular single, “Obi Besú,” quickly became a viral hit. The song’s success was a turning point for him, encouraging him to consistently release new material. Since then, he has released eight singles, including collaborations with artists like Kwami Yogot on the song “Ankwanoma.” He also won the ‘Best Highlife Artiste of the Year’ at the Ghana Music Awards USA, solidifying his place in the highlife music scene.
