Black Entertainment TV (BET) award-winning and one time Grammy nominated artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla, who performs under the stage name, Stonebwoy, has revealed that, Ghanaian musicians, entertainment critics and stakeholders need to recognize and acknowledge the practical role musician, Samini, played to elevate the music industry.
According to the reggae/ragga & dance-hall and afro-beats trailblazer, before the rise of the current crop of musicians, including himself, and a few notable headliners who are making Ghana proud and hoisting the flag of Ghana high, winning Ghanaian, pan-African and global laurels, the founder and frontliner of High Grade Family (HGF), born Emmanuel Andrew Sammini, held the flag of Ghana high and kept Ghanaian music at the forefront of the pan-African music scene.
In an interview on Tv Africa’s morning show, Stonebwoy who was once a protégé to Samini stated that, with 2 decades in the performing and recording ecosystem, the “Untamed Album” crooner’s music business sense and knowledge of the game, relevance and his incomparable ability to move crowds as an entertainer is unmatched. He added that, the industry players and other stakeholders need to practically contribute to project, hold and celebrate him for his enormous achievements.
On his 4th studio album, Anloga Junction, the Afro-dancehall don pulls off an ambitious task by folding his collaborators’ varied styles into his signature sound. Fellow Ghanaian Kojo Antwi fits the reggae feel of “Nkuto”, and the bass rhythm of “Bow Down” flows in sync with Nasty C’s energy. Frequently singing in his Ewe language, particularly on the Keri Hilson collab “Nominate”, Stonebwoy always finds his way back to the unique style that has made him special.
