Stop the ‘beef’ and get the cow – Kwesi Slay

Ashiaman-based Hip Pop/ Afro-Pop talent, Kwesi Slay is urging his colleague artists to concentrate on making money with their craft instead of creating ‘beefs’ to survive in the industry.

The artist who recently got his new song ‘Billionaire’ on Apple Music Hip-Pop playlist in an interview with MZDRU on the Live Breakfast Club on LiveFM, when asked about his comment on the ongoing ‘beefs’ among his colleague artists, he said, “I am more concern about making more money than knowing who is ‘beefing’ who in the industry”

He explained that, Instead of concentrating on beef, why don’t artiste work hard on their craft to buy the cow to have an impact on the community. Kwesi added that though the music industry here isn’t really paying like other countries, but there are other streams of work to help pay most of the bills rather than concentrating on beefs to survive in the industry. “Let’s make more money than more beefs”

Kwesi’s new single ‘Billionaire’ was inspired by DJ Khaled’s Snapchat story. The song is released under his record label, Slay Music Group was produced by Lyrical Beatz with the video shot in Dubai and directed by Yaw Skyface.

Kwesi Slay, born Bernard Appiah is a Ghanaian -based Hip Pop and AfroPop artist best known for his collaborations with great music acts, energetic live shows, and his futuristic-inspired hairstyle. With lush soundscapes and big choruses, his music draws influence from artists like Kenya West and other great names in Ghana music business and beyond.

He has collaborated with many well-known Ghanaian artists like Kwesi Arthur, Medikal, Yaa Pono, Cabum, Kojo Cue,Wanlov Kubolor, Kelvynboy, Kuame Eugene and some others who are on his yet to be released music projects. Kwesi slay is with a wide range of versatility from the engineering of sound to the production of music to sound pleasant to the masses.

He grows up in Ashaiman, A suburb of Accra with his parents Mr. George Appiahnkran and Ms. Janet Acheampong. Kwesi had his basic education at University of Ghana Basic School, Saint John’s Senior high for his secondary education and IPMC institute for his diploma education in graphic and web design.

Kwesi got his inspiration to do Music at an early age, he got the opportunity to perform at ‘Chechekule’ (a Children channel in developing talents in the early 2000s) but professionally he started his music journey in the year 2015 with his first song ‘3Y3 Normal’ which featured ‘Yaa Pono’ and since then it has been a journey of growth and fulfillment.

The young artist pride himself in his unique way of working on a beat, he says the level of determination he puts into his works to make sure his stuff gets out therewith the intention of motivating and encouraging the youth in the community and the world at large makes him distinct from other artists.

Kwesi who is currently signed unto ‘Slay Music Group’ which he is the founder and CEO of the record label says he wouldn’t like to limit himself with a genre but he has a major strength in hip pop and afro-pop.

The young music boss is hoping to change the music industry with regards to the quality of work, the socio-economic impact, technology in music and other great innovations to lessen the hustle musicians go through in this part of the world.

He has released 15 songs with a more yet to be published with production credit going to his sound engineer Lyrical Beatz. He has released songs like, ‘Seven’ featuring Kwesi Arthur, ‘Wedi bet’, ‘streetways’, ‘visa’ ft Wanlov, ‘follow you’ ft Kuame Eugene, ‘hard love’ ft Kelvynboy ‘Frass’ featuring Medikal, ‘Pussy Cat’, his current banger ‘Billionaire’ and a few other great songs.
