Minister of Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah interacts with Creative Arts Minster, Stonebwoy and other Top Musicians

It all started in an Instagram live broadcast on Minister for Information’s, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah. Amidst the broadcast, he invited award winning reggae/ragga & dance-hall juggernaut, Stonebwoy, to join the conversation to stand as a voice for the creative art and culture industry and to also highlight the deficiencies of Ghana’s entertainment industry and how the government of Ghana ameliorate the art practitioners’ struggle.

On Thursday, June 11, 2020, the Information Minister facilitated a virtual meeting between Creative Arts Minister, under the auspices of Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi and top musicians, including Trigmatic, Efya, E.L., Mark Okraku Mantey and other industry stakeholders following an earlier promise by the Ofoase/Ayirebi legislator to Stonebwoy during the Instagram live chat.

The Conversation was about the use of digital channels to enhance the revenue streams of creative artistes in the era of COVID-19 and to rally support for the creative arts bill. And as suggested by Stonebwoy, the government will create a government-sanctioned music streaming platform that will generate revenue for the musicians or strengthen and monetize other available digital platforms that would generate income for creatives.
