Gone were the days, hardly would you hear of any female rapper competing on the African scale due to the male dominated factor associated with the music industry. But Eno Barony, a doyenne Ghanaian female rapper has, or is still, breaking the virginity of such spells and stereotypes that has slowed the growth of female rappers into hitting the spotlight on the continent. The purpose of this article is to celebrate her tenacity and foresight for rap music.
With her natural born tendency for music, charisma and witty nature, she’s a dedicated artist without fear or limit. I can confidently bet my last coin to say she is a better rapper than most male emcees because she understands rudiments of rap. Even some male rappers have swiftly switched from rapping to singing. That alone tells how mentally tough and resilient she is. Recently she was declared by many as the overall winner of the lyrical war between herself, Sista Afia, Medikal and Freda Rhymz.
I could be wrong but, the heart of a woman is a total mystery like that of Eno, unpredictable. Known for her pregnant lyrical prowess, metaphors, wordplay, energy and efficiency on any beat, she has progressively painted a clear image of herself into the minds of Ghanaians and the world as “Rap Goddess” aka “King Of Queens”.
Inch by inch she is gaining momentum commercially, due to her enigmatic, forthcoming, consistency, creatively insane and never giving up nature. This has won her many fans across the globe. It’s important to note that, aside music she’s also a plus size advocate.
Since today is dedicated to celebrate her works, allow me to introduce you to her foremost album titled ‘Yaa Asantewaa’ released under Mix Masta Garzy’s 2MG Music on 30/12/2017. Here’s the streaming link to the album: https://audiomack.com/album/2mg-music/yaa-asantewaa
Admit it or not, Eno Barony is Africa’s finest rap musician. In a nutshell, she has no competition in Ghana. If you’re in doubt, just do the maths. Likewise, she has paved way for most female rappers in Ghana. I am keen to know your thoughts.
