Kumawood actress Charlotte Acheampong says he will continue to use her movies and brand to help promote Ghana’s tourism sector.
According to her, there was a need for Ghanaian celebrities to advertise the country’s tourism sector on international platforms to create awareness in order to woo more investors into the country.
The actress, who has opted not to take any payments to promote the tourism industry in the country, expressed her delight to be named as the country’s tourism ambassador.
Known in the showbiz scene as Mama Gee, Charlotte Acheampong mentioned that members of her management team have all declared their eagerness to support her. She said in order for Ghana’s tourism sector to develop, the country must promote itself, and develop its tourism infrastructure, including affordable accommodations, restaurants, and other necessities for tourism. She, however, called on the government to ensure an aggressive promotion of cultural tourism to bring in more revenue to support the economy.
According to her, there are so many benefits in the tourism industry which if the government is looking at seriously it will generate more revenue for the country.
The Kumawood actress again called on her colleagues in the movie industry to help promote tourism development in the country, as the sector holds a lot of potential in generating more revenue for the country.
She, therefore, appealed to the government to put effective measures in place that will promote and develop the tourism industry in the country.
She added that though some investments have been made in some tourist sites, there was still the need for partnership with the private sector to develop them further in order to attract all categories of tourists as well as create employment for the youth.
