Popular Entertainment pundit and phenomenal event hype man, Mc Portfolio has said Ghanaians should not crucify Gospel singer Mavis Asante for her recent comments on gospel-secular collaborations.
In a recent interview captured on the front page of the Graphic Showbiz, Mavis Asante emphasized that such collaborations are “just noise and nothing else.”
Mavis Asante questioned the purpose and reason behind gospel-secular collaborations, asking if it’s for fame, winning souls, hype, or recognition.
She believes that gospel singers and secular artists have different callings and purposes, and collaborations between them can create confusion and dilute the gospel message.
Mavis Asante’s statement has generated significant conversations and controversies on both old and new media, with some agreeing and others disagreeing with her stance.
The topic was discussed on Hitz FM’s flagship entertainment show, Daybreak Hitz, where Mavis Asante opened the conversation with host DJ Slim, emphasizing why her opinion remains unchanged.
While opinions may vary, her perspective highlights the importance of considering the purpose and potential impact of such collaborations on the gospel message.
Mc Portfolio, one of the guests on the show said it will be inappropriate to verbally attack the singer for her opinions and decisions.
According to portfolio in the conversation, people are entitled to their opinions and decisions so if Mavis Asante believes though some gospel musicians sees it as an opportunity to win more souls for Christ and she doesn’t believe it is appropriate, Ghanaians should respect that and move on.
Portfolio says people have personal principles that guides them and Mavis has made hers clear. She believes if as a gospel music singer wants to team up with another singer to propagate the message, there are many like minded singers in there system who she can gladly call on instead of a secular music singer.
This according to portfolio is a personal decision and Ghanaians should respect that.
