Sad but EDEM is the only visible mainstream Artist with a complete link to the Volta Region and that is the sad truth.
STONEBWOY represents Ashaiman more than Volta. MANIFEST represents Madina more than Volta. EL represents Accra more than Volta and the list continues.
The main problem in Volta is favouritism on the side of the local industry players. We have very talented Artists working hard everyday but We don’t collectively support the best but then our friends even if they are not worth the hype. And this is affecting our progress as a people because since we want our Artist to par with the best, we unconsciously and sometimes consciously sabotage the best with every small opportunity we get.
To get more Mainstream Artists from Volta is to vigorously promote the best over the rest even our friends. And we currently have more than 5 Artists who are doing extremely good releasing good songs worth the international standard and have built for themselves a solid brand. And if we can collectively push this 5 Acts on a daily basis, Volta can start having more stars in Mainstream Ghana music.
Imagine the whole Volta supporting JAH PHINGA just because he is great regardless he approaches them on not. Imagine every Radio station playing his AGBEMENYA, WO DEKA or any of his classically written inspirational songs on their morning show everyday for the next 6 months.
And then imagine if every drive time host in the region plays JAH PHINGAs songs every afternoon on their afternoon shows for the next 6 months as well.
Like he would become a national asset after the 6 months instantly because he has the talent, the determination and charisma of a Star worth the title of a Mainstream Artist.
And imagine this same favour of supporting the best over the rest is directed to the flawless other talents we have like KEENY ICE, CAMIDOH, KD BAKES, RAINGAD.
This guys including JAH PHINGA have been able to create a stable brand for themselves over the years and have kept the trust of releasing good music with quality productions and do deserve our selfless and collective push so they can reach the top and pull others up.
