William “Tony” Rogers – President of the Harlem Tourism Board
In an exclusive dialogue with the founders of The Taste Of Afrika – Tengol K. Kplemani and Martin Glin via zoom call, the President of the Harlem Tourism Board William “Tony” Rogers gave full details of his ulterior motive for buying in “The Taste Of Afrika” initiative. Mr Rogers is a resourced and revered figure with many hats; he doubles as President and CEO of Urbanology System LLC, a 6-degree black belt in GoJu Karate, a certified Ayurvedic Medicine practitioner, co-founder of Harlem Week, et al.
Very enthusiastic about tourism, African / American history, and cultural awareness, just to mention a few, Mr Rogers believes their ancestors have allowed them to connect with their roots – Africa. Hence The Taste Of Afrika project is very timely, to larger a extent; a generational feat of rewriting our history as Africans.
The Taste Of Afrika
As an agent of advancement, The Taste Of Afrika’s goal, mission, and vision interestingly in alignment with Mr Rogers. That said, he is the networking partner of TTOA. TTOA’s main goal is to use music, tourism and cultural awareness to mobilize the masses, and educate, unite and connect diasporas across the globe. It’s important to note that, Mr Rogers has colleagues from the USA in Ghana who own a hotel at Cape Coast. This means when nature takes its cause, reality becomes evident.
Brief info about TTOA:
THE TASTE OF AFRIKA is a veritable engine for a complex array of interrelated interventions and programmes designed to deliver a synergy of ideas, endeavors and talents within the continent of Afrika and the world at large. It is poised to harness its resources and potential, which will greatly accelerate growth in our community, industry and productivity.
The Taste of Afrika has birthed a cultural unification agenda called CULTURAL ONENESS. Cultural Oneness is a festival that presents our culture in one unit to the world, and with dialogues among ourselves on how we can work together within the continent and our diaspora regardless of our language barriers and tribal differences.
