Harry Kane: 1st English player to assist 4 goals in a single Premier League game

Kane is only the sixth player to assist four goals in a single Premier League game, and the first ever English player to do so. Kane only assisted two league goals in the entirety of last season.

The England captain gets a deserved goal for his exploits after a horrendous defending from the Saints as Lamela is afforded space and time on the left flank. Stephens allows him to shoot, but McCarthy turns it on to the post. Kane is the first to react on the rebound in the six-yard box to poke the ball home. 

Kane who was directly involved in five goals in one PL game (one goal, four assists) since Mo Salah v Watford in March 2018 (four goals, one assist). It’s the second time Kane has done so (also May 2017 v Leicester).

It’s wass all square at half time between Southampton and Tottenham in their Premier League clash. Southampton were on top for the majority of the first half and deservedly took the lead through a great strike from Danny Ings. Spurs were below-par after seeing an early Harry Kane effort disallowed. However, they discovered their clinical edge just before the interval. as Son supplied a fine finish to notch the equaliser.

Ralph Hasenhuttl will be extremely frustrated that his side were unable to see out the half with their lead intact. The Saints were excellent in the opening period, but were undone by a piece of brilliance by the visitors before halftime.

Son Heung-min notched four well-taken strikes from inside the box – all of which were created by Harry Kane. Kane himself notched the fifth from close range before Ings signed off the scoring for the day with a consolation from the penalty spot. Jose Mourinho will be pleased with his side’s clinical edge, while Ralph Hasenhuttl will be furious with the standard of his side’s defending in the second half.

Southampton are next in Premier League action against Burnley on the road next Sunday. Tottenham play Leyton Orient in their next outing in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
