Ghana’s music scene is buzzing with a significant number of thriving young acts across all genres. From the likes of Gyakie debuting on top music charts to the Larusso making moves with RocNation and Tidal, these artists – many of them independent – are collectively setting new heights to which Ghanaian music can travel.
One of such who forms part of Ghana’s rich and diverse music mine is Oforiwaa, born and raised on the music influence in Tema which nurtured great Ghanaian artists like Sarkodie, Castro among others.
In conversation with Motionhype, Oforiwaa talked about her inspiration for creating music, the success of her Twobars-produced debut – ‘Just You’, and her aspirations for her career.
“Music does for me, what food does for all of us, so very often, I need music just as much as I need food. That is what gets me to write, create; it fuels pretty much everything I do as an artist”
Oforiwaa with her top two strengths being her vocal prowess and songwriting skills takes a lot of lessons from icons like Kojo Antwi, Beyonce, Jordin Sparks. “These people sing, they write excellently too, so I try to learn as much as I can from them”.
