I’m not a freestyle artiste — J. Derobie fumes on WatsUp TV


WatsUp TV Ghana hosted Ghanaian Dancehall/Afrobeats newbie, J. Derobie on their “TOP 10 Countdown” this week and the fast rising Singjay bluntly says he is not a “freestyle artiste”.

According to J. Derobie, creating songs come with a lot of thought and creativity which then transforms into what he feeds the music market so he loves to create substantial content instead of churn out songs based on freestyle.

“I do freestyles though but those are things I do just to create a vibe or pass fun times. Most of the freestyles I did before I hit mainstream recognition weren’t even recorded”, he explained.

He’s a snippet we culled from the interview he had with WatsUp TV’s host Champagne Lee:

J. Derobie broke out to mainstream recognition with his 2019 power song “Poverty” under Mr. Eazi’s Empawa Project which would later have him signed to Mr Eazi’s.

He released this new single “Back It” a little over 3 months ago:
