Talented singer, performer and songwriter Jah Lead has opened up on his life and career as a music artiste in Ghana.
In an exclusive interview with YEN.com.gh who is known to have worked with Samini’s HighGrade Family disclosed that his singing talent is from God.
According to the Lonely singer, he is of this opinion because apart from music, he is also a police officer but has been able to merge the two professions so far.
“I always say my singing is ordained from God. Yes I’m serving God and country [as a police officer]. So merging it has not been a problem. People think it should be a problem but God says no, do you and I’m doing me,” he said.
Talking of his beginnings, Jah Lead revealed that he started as a very young boy while in basic school at St. John’s Preparatory where he was in the same dormitory as rapper, Asem.
From basic school, he continued singing through secondary school and to the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
He took up music as profession when he was in his third year at UCC and was traveling back to Accra every Thursday for recording sessions.
An old school friend who was a music producer (engineer), Ray of Cash 2 and Ray fame, had left a message in his house one time. He called Ray after the message was delivered everything took of from then.
A very good songwriter, Jah Lead is the source for the lyrics of his songs and even provides lyrics for others. One of the names he mentioned Kofi Kinaata explaining that he wrote the Patois lyircs in the Fante rapper’s Play (More Mbelede) song.
Jah Lead who is very versatile prefers not to be boxed into one music genre saying he does Dancehall, Highlife, Afrobeat, and other genres effortlessly.
Going into the future, Jah Lead wants to put out more records, gets God’s guidance, and be more prolific in his career.
