JR Music, an Accra-based Music Record Label in partnership with FBN Bank Ghana have donated 15 Boxes of Sanitary Pads to female inmates of Nsawam Prison as part of World Menstrual Hygiene Day observation on Sunday, May 28th.
Mr. Joshua Raphaelson, CEO of JR Music together with personnel of FBN Bank made the donation. The package did not only include sanitary pads but also bags of sachet water and a tall list of other toiletries.
According to Mr. Joshua Raphaelson who spoke on behalf of the Team, he urged other concerned citizens to pay more attention to the female inmates of the facility and give them more support. “Menstrual Health is a natural phenomenon and a necessity, hence must be treated as such. We can’t stay aloof without supporting our daughters, sisters, aunties, mothers or even grandmothers (who are in prison). Everyone needs support but we need to give key attention to the gender that births the world. Without women procreating we probably wouldn’t be born or even alive today so we must pay key attention to their needs, especially menstrual hygiene.”
The kind gesture he says, would be an annual affair by his outfit to give similar support to other females, not just the inmates of Nsawam Prisons. Some of the female inmates who have been undergoing some reform programmes manufactured some wares that were bought by the visiting Team.
Present to witness the occasion was Kobby Kyei, Humanitarian Blogger cum Philanthropist, as well as Metro TV and other media houses present. Below are some (more) images from the donation.
