Kente is a Ghanaian textile which is made of silk and cotton, interwoven in strips. It is well known in the Akan tribe in Ghana but has become a global attire thanks to the wonderful colors it brings out. It has become a major part of tourism as it easily helps project the Ghanaian name to every corner of the world.
Virginia in the United States of America is set to host the “Kente Wear Exhibition & Dance” 2022. A two-day event which will have an exhibition on the 2nd of October, 2022 and a dance night on the 30th of October 2022. The A&C Banquet Hall is the venue for the event. Scheduled to perform for the occasion is the legendary Yaw Sarpong and the Asomafo Band from Ghana. The exhibition will showcase a variety of kente woven designs and additions that can be made to various attires. Kente can be added as an accessory to every cloth worn and the exhibition will showcase much of that. The dance event is much more of Ghanaian music and the best of it all will be projected.
Yaw Sarpong is a veteran Ghanaian musician who has used his musical talent to project much about the gospel and win souls for Jesus Christ. The name “Asomafo” means “Messengers” and they preach “The Word” everywhere they go. Yaw Sarpong has been in this business for over 30 years. He is the headline performer for the event scheduled for the 2nd and 30th of October.
In a brief conversation, he (Yaw Sarpong) expressed his anticipation for his performance. “My songs are well known since time immemorial and I know my fans are waiting to see me perform Wo Haw Ne Sen, Oko Yi, Tenabea Foforo and many others. I will not disappoint them at all.”
We anticipate a very successful event to take place.
