Reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year Kuami Eugene is out with the much talked about album titled “Son Of Africa”.
The track album is made up of 14 solid tracks featuring the likes of Sarkodie, Prince Bright, Shatta Wale, Samini, DJ Mensah, Obaapa Christy, and Nigeria’s Falz, Zlatan Ibile and Eddy Kenzo from Uganda.
According to him “The whole idea of ‘Son of Africa’ album is a piece that will represent the whole of Africa…something that doesn’t stand for only Ghana because we’re Ghanaians and am personally a Ghanaian but something that is going to represent Africa and Africans in the whole of the world”.
“We needed that feel that every African can connect to and when we look at Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.. I mean he’s being celebrated all over the world and God being so good he’s a product of Africa, he’s a product of Ghana to be precise, so it was best to have a name sake start my album for me”.
“Kuami Eugene, Kwame Nkrumah… It was just a good feeling to have a name sake start an album for me and when you listen to what he said.. He’s talking about Africa and how when we are given the mandate and opportunity to explore, we can do exploits”.
“And the chorus was in Hausa…it says that I’m my mother’s favourite son.. So am actually saying Africa is God’s favorite continent…so we’re are special in some ways.. we have beautiful women, when they say tall, handsome we still point our fingers to Africa.. so we’re special and it’s about time we realized how special we are”.
Production credit goes to Richie Mensah, Willis Beatz, MOG Beats and Kuami Eugene.
