Accra, April 25, 2020 – Azonto took the world by storm in 2011/12 due to its novelty and charm; paving the way for a whole new genre that spun an unrivaled streak of hits. We loved it and you certainly did too – it was our anthem. Fast forward to 2020 and Azonto is a shell of its former self. And though it is not a completely lost sound, its bouncy up-tempo rhythms a are about to reverberate once more.
After gifting us with landmark Azonto classics; ‘U Go Kill Me’, ‘Obuu Mo, ‘Dangerous’, E.L teams up with Sarkodie once again to whip up some Azonto magic on a Pee GH production, ‘Revival’.
Like its title suggests, ‘Revival’ aims to re-ignite that lost Azonto energy; to bring back the culture. Afterall, Azonto played a huge part in taking contemporary Ghanaian music international and as E.L put it via a phone call: ”Azonto was created by us. It’s a sound that belongs to us. I don’t think we have to look very far to enjoy our own music at home”.
The song screams prime Azonto and will surely get everyone busting moves once Ghana and the world are back on. It is speculated that, this could be the beginning of more Azonto songs from the two artists.
