Budding Ghanaian artists Nana Kwabi says, music royalties should not be given to all artists but rather hardworking artists.
According to the versatile artist, lots of artists do not produce genuine songs, they either sample the beats of others or remix someone’s original song, this kind of artists are lazy and do not need to be given royalties.
In a phone interview, he said, “If I have the power, I would not give most of the artists royalties because they don’t deserve it. I will change the way artists get their royalties and make sure any artist who has worked hard get his or hers, on a regular bases.”
Nana Kwabi is a Tema based artist who was introduced to music at a very young age, as he grew up his friend taught him how to record music. He takes inspiration from Nas and Bob Marley due to the conscious and real-life stories their songs talk about and also Damian Marley, shatta wale, Chronix, Stone bwoy, and Sarkodie.
Nana Kwabi has a new song ‘Ghana Love’ which he featured June Thursday and Jah Tym. He said, “The song talks about his special love For Ghana and the lifestyle of Ghanaians. It is on all the famous streaming platforms.”
