Possi Gee: Meet the Tema-based super producer behind most hit songs in Ghana & Africa

 

Essentially, every artist’s success largely depends on a well-experienced music producer who understands all the technicalities and business aspects of the music business. This is paramount because music producers are the main engines who engineer quick split-second decisions and commune their vision and expertise of a final song and how it’s supposed to be sung and performed to attract the music market to yield a golden business.

Introduction:
Based on the nature of their profession, they’re mostly behind the scene. On that note, BeenieWords has decided to celebrate revered Tema-based award-winning super-producer, sound engineer, and philanthropist Possi Gee. More than any producer, Possi Gee has contributed to the success of Ghana in so many ways. He boosted Sarkodie’s commercial success recording over 200 mixtapes amidst many successful commercial hits.

Early Life / Educational Background:
Born Awal Alhassan and popularly known by his signature, Possi Gee was born on 6th July 1981. He attended Padmore  Primary School located in Tema C.1, later moved to Akosombo for JSS upon which he had admission to Tema ‘Presby’ for his Secondary education. He furthered on to the university where
he graduated with a Diploma in Computer technologies in 2004 at the Socio Computers.

Career:
Quality is quality, there’s no substitute for it. Possi Gee has established a household name for himself as a go-to person to execute the job related to music. As a music addict who was passionate about sound production and decided to go all out to pursue it as a profession.

Advancing into the music industry, he established MOB Studio and owns MOB Records as an independent engineer in 2005. Since then, Possi has been venerated as one of Ghana’s top-notch music producers and sound engineers who have produced hits upon hits.

Artists / Projects:
After attaining a high level of respect and enviable reputation for over 14 years, Possi Gee has managed to attract artists, producers, and a tall list of excited clients from different walks of life.

Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, R2Bees, Samini, Stonebwoy, Edem, Kwaw Kese, VVIP, E.L, Fuse ODG, Castro(RIP), D Cryme, Efya, Adina, Obibini, King Promise, Wizkid, Mr.Eazi, Ice Prince,  Kelvyn Boy, Teephlow, Kidi, Kuami Eugene, K Switch, just to mention a few artists who have hired his service.

His work ethics is one to admire, not to talk of his commitment, focus, detail, creativity, enterprising, respect for time & humanity, workaholic, and winning spirit qualities you can easily identify him with.

As a sound engineer, he is very particular about music with substance hence he has ears for good music. Classical examples of some of the songs he has done magic to include Dance For Me (Ruff N Smooth), Hero (Stonebwoy), Angela (Kuami Eugene), Far Away (Sarkodie ft. Kore Debello), CCTV (King Promise ft. Sarkodie) and many uncountable songs.

Beyond the records he has made for himself, he has stepped out of his comfort zone to collaborate and coordinate with other producers and sound engineers to make sure the artist records the song the best way so the song comes out the way it was intended, and to make sure that the sounds of the engineer in the studio are fitting the style of the song or album. Revolution (2009), Rapperholic (2012), Sarkology (2014), Phlowducation (2017), EOM (2017), Highest (2017), and a host of other albums.

Philanthropic Projects:
As mentioned earlier, Awal’s love and service to humanity are worth discussing. As a believer of service to man is service to God, Possi established The Awal Children Of The Future Foundation (ACOTF) to touch the lives of over 30,000 kids on the street.

As part of cooperate social responsibility, he managed to get highly respected Ghanaian musicians to join hands in feeding a large number of street children.

ACOTF Foundation also joined forces with the “Let them smile foundation” to organize a health walk on the streets of Tema to keep fit and talk about the importance of reaching out to the poor and needy.
