For years we’ve been Preaching, let’s promote our own, let’s promote our own saaa but as usual those put in charge to promote our own have decided to rather take monies from our neighbours and promote their works. They’ve sold the birthright for coins. Fact is that the more you promote something, the more you create demand for it.

 

Now in December we’re being told that our audience have an appeal for our neighbours music instead of our own in fact sponsors even spend more monies on them than our own Artists. Like I said earlier common sense should tell us that the more we promote something else the more our people will demand for it but because we refuse to think we continue to perpetrate that foolishness in everything including prioritising soap operas over our local productions.

 

Just a few weeks ago we all saw how Olive The Boy lunched his music career with all the razzmatazz and the Sonys and the Universals and the bla bla bla and finally the activation of the Nigerian tour only to be told that his performance at the Big Brother Naija show was shelved from appearing on TV.

 

Information from the camp said they pitched for the show meaning there is a possibility that they paid to be on that platform but in the end we’re being given some flimsy explanation that it was some miscommunication between some director and producer of the show.

 

Fact is if we are silly enough to choose others over ours, they are not stupid to choose ours over theirs and the funny part is how some of our people were crying fowl over a show we pitched for smh.

 

Clearly, George M. Britton told us that the BBN program is actually reserved for their Artist and yo! that’s how one protects its Industry.

 

You boldly build billboards for them and playlist their music on your Tv Channels and play their songs in all our clubs and events whiles you fight and insult your own Artists down here. Wei

 

Sadly, even the shelving of our own Artist at the BBN House is not being discussed on our platforms and that should tell you how we have contributed to our own fall. It’s sad but na who cause am.

 

Greedy and selfish individuals who have turned themselves into agents for our neighbours have sold the industry out.

 

Sense One sef we no get and that’s the plain truth. I honestly didn’t want to write about this but if we don’t, posterity will judge us.

 

We wish Olive & his Team all the best in his career and ask that he recovers quickly from that setback and move on with speed cause the journey has not even yet started.
