The Rastafari Council of Ghana warmly congratulates President Nana Akufo-Addo for granting Ghanaian citizenship to 524 diasporans, a commendable initiative marking the third such occasion since 2016.
This act underscores Ghana’s dedication to embracing members of the African diaspora, fostering unity and strengthening connections within the global African community.
In light of this progress, the Council urges future governments to legislate a review of the reintegration process for diasporans.
Currently, the immigration framework does not differentiate between diasporans of African descent and expatriates from other nations, which can hinder their seamless integration into Ghanaian society.
We therefore advocate for policies that recognize and support the unique heritage and contributions of our diaspora brothers and sisters.
The reintegration of our kinsmen from the diaspora is a welcome step towards strengthening the global African family.
Signed:
Ahuma Bosco Ocansey
