Sunday, April 18, 2021 was another historic night on radio when King Lagazee, Host of “Yaad Settingz” on Ghana’s big radio network, Hitz 103.9fm interviewed international Music Legend, Rayvon.
The interview cut across circles such as music production, sound system culture to concerts et al. The almost 1 hour plus interview revealed a lot of hidden but historic feats about the global icon many of his Ghanaian fans weren’t privy to.
One of the vivid part of his conversation was his willingness to work with artistes across the globe; he mentioned working with African musicians and and playing concerts in Africa.
King Lagazee then put him on the spotlight and asked him which African musician he would love to work with next and the name that got mentioned by Rayvon was Stonebwoy! Anyone who has followed Stonebwoy’s journey and monitored the seriousness attached to his work across, and on the international front wouldn’t be surprised to have his name mentioned by Rayvon for a joint or collaboration.
“I’ve done one or two works with African artistes but Stonebwoy is the next one I would lobe to work with. The future looks good. The time is right; right now for a combination and collaboration with Stonebwoy. Wish I could fly down to Ghana right now. I’ve been to Ghana a couple of times and it’s a nice place”, Rayvon excitingly expressed.
On Relevance & Career Consistency:
“Staying relevant also comes with ways of staying consistent at different levels of it. In modern times or with changing trends, you need to keep up with the new wave as an artiste. Your ability to fit in and still staying true to your craft is what makes relevant in the game.” — Rayvon.
“I love to do music. I love to play music and I live music. I love to create music. It’s my lifestyle”, he added.
Stardom is a very delicate tableau; many who have tasted stardom found it difficult to maintain balance at such levels and fall prey to some of the vices that come with it. Rayvon didn’t skip answering a question posited at him about this topic. His response, below;
“Back in the days there were only cameras on you at events — stage or TV Cameras set to capture performances or interviews but in recent times there are cameras everywhere — no privacy unlike in the past. When you’re at the gas station or supermarket or in the streets there are cameras all over you, people recording you for whatever reason so the privacy aspect doesn’t seem to exist in recent times compared to the past”, — Rayvon.
Rayvon is out with his new single “I See You”, featuring Sugar Bear. Sugar Bear is a musician from Bronx, USA. Both did a song earlier called “Sugarcane”
Rayvon — born Bruce Alexander Michael Brewster — he is a Barbadian singer and songwriter, known for his work with Shaggy. Born in Barbados, he was raised in Brooklyn, New York. He released his debut album, Hear My Cry in 1997. His first major hit “Pure Pleasure” released in 1993 shot him to mainstream prominence in 1994. “Angel” with Shaggy got him millions of eyeballs across the globe too while working as a Solo artiste. He has toured and played shows with James Brown, Michael Jackson, just to name a few. Albums released by him are “Super Tasty”, “My Bad”, “American Idol Season 14: Best Of Rayvon Owen”.
