Quite a controversial conversation among Ghanaian reggae fraternity when it comes to the issue of “Branding”.
While some artistes like Konkarah Jahvybz are openly of the view that some of his colleagues don’t attract the eye of the corporate market because of zero branding and lackadaisical attitude to business, some of his colleagues like Osagyefo hardly opposes the view of “branding to please the market”.
Konkarah in a recent interview with BeenieWords.com still stood by his words to say the ‘needful’ regardless the opposing views by his colleagues.
Multiple award winning Reggae Presenter, King Lagazee, who recently complained about the same issues raised by Konkarah was heavily criticized by the Reggae and Rasta Community in Ghana — but King Lagazee still kept lashing them with his words and says he won’t shut up until they change for the better.
Bongo-I, one of the veteran Reggae voices who doubles as a Radio Presenter on West FM in Volta Region bluntly says the issue of branding is a major problem among the Ghanaian Reggae community and frankly says many of them mix up Rastafarianism with the Reggae business which is purely music so they refuse to critically take advise and act accordingly. In his submission to buttress the key points raised by Konkarah, he wrote this comment on a social media post (below, UNEDITED) on the story Elorm Beenie posted on his social media promotional pages.
“Corporate Branding too hia. They shld position themselves to get the corporate shows. Finally I think that thing of sewing clothes like masquerades all in the name of “roots” too shld stop b4 ur dress alone go spill somebody ein wine fr table during performance😂😂😂.
