Rocky Dawuni is a GRAMMY-nominated Ghanaian singer, songwriter, producer and activist who performs his signature ‘Afro Roots’ sound which is a mixture of Reggae, Afrobeat, Highlife and Soul music.
He currently lives between his native Ghana and Los Angeles in the United States. Dawuni got acquainted with Reggae in Ghana when he heard a military band performing one of Bob Marley’s compositions in Michel Camp; a military barracks where he grew up in Ghana.
In the first week of September 2021 Rocky joined me from #CostaRica as I hosted him on #Theafricandream show. While in Costa Rica Rocky participated and performed at the “International Day of People of African Descent” Conference under the invitation of the United Nations. He was among the Ghanaian delegation to the event.
He shared his reason for being at the conference, what he felt about its significance and how it could be a tool to unite Africa and the world. Rocky also spoke on environmental issues in Africa and addressed the young African in our chat.
