Grace Antwi, young Ghanaian Vlogger takes a deeper insight into Sarkodie’s “Brown Paper Bag” featuring Manifest. She dissects the lyrics of the song and relates it with Osaygefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s vision of “Freedom” for the African continent.
In a detailed analysis, Grace Antwi says, “the video is about what Dr. Kwame Nkrumah meant to be Free in his speech at the independence day of Ghana in correlation with what Sarkodie defines as Free in his new record which he titled ‘Brown Paper Bag’. Sarkodie highlighted some important things for the youth and current generation which needs a critical thought.”
She continued by saying, “Free is when you decide for yourself, Free is when no one is controlling your wealth, Free is when you stop begging people for help”.
“There are most government deals that have rather caused economic hardships instead of national development, government deals that are frivolous and does not benefit Ghanaians, government deals with foreign companies that takes over state owned institutions for more than 30 years and above which has a lot of negative impacts as well as poses an existential threat to such state owned institution and a bleak to the future of current generation and unborn generation as such its very imperative for the youth and current generation to understand some of these economic initiatives and raise their voices in one accord to advocate on some of these economic and political initiatives that impedes the development of our nation building all else we are not free as a nation,” she added.
