It is quite cataclysmic how most critics and non-fans are quick to point fingers at his bossy attitude over his craftsmanship, relevance, achievements and impact on Ghana music. Rapperholic Concert 21 gave fans atmospheric justice, event orgasm and it was conceivably the loudest and biggest crowd the rapper has ever had for a paid concert.
The concert saw the likes of Roc Nation’s signed act Vic Mensah, Obrafuor, Prince Bright, Kwaw Kese, Edem, Flowking Stone, Epixode, King Promise, Empress Gifty, Akwaboah, Sista Afia, Kidi, Kofi Jamar, Adina, Mr Drew, Tulenkey, Quamina MP, Fameye, Gyakie, Black Sherif and host of other acts. Other surprise guests includebusiness mogul Starzee and other high profile dignitaries.
The crowd was so organised. And the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Police were in control of security on the night of the event, they maintained a high level of sanity. It was more about obeying before complaining.
Sarkodie
It was by far the most grandiose single-handed artist concert last year held at the Grande Arena with a sea of audience. Put some respect on the brand Sarkodie for having established a high standard concert with a full live band set as opposed to the regular miming performance like most artists. He rocked the performance with supercharged energy.
You don’t realize how lyrically creative and dynamic he is until you take time to listen to what he is saying and start to understand each verse and song. His lyrics and storytelling abilities are off the chart, his flow is refreshing with a catalogue of hit songs.
Sarkodie
Just like wine, Sarkodie is not getting old, he’s even getting better at what he’s best known for – MUSIC. He’s is the most pleasing rapper and entertainer Ghana can ever pride itself on. “I will sell my soul to watch Sarkodie perform any day” & “Attending Sarkodie’s event has always been on my dream list” were a few comments I randomly picked from some staunch fans of the rapper during the concert last year.
The question is, what will trigger fans to pass such a simple yet powerful comment? The answer is simple, as a true icon who only had a dream though he came from absolutely nothing to be a hero-worshipped by millions of fans all over the world is purely inspirational.
Sarkodie
That’s the kind of chills and goosebumps Sark leaves on his fans during and after his concerts. I stand to be corrected, no other rapper has ever had such an effect on rap music in Ghana. Though most people despise his bossy nature, you can’t take away the fact he has paid his dues, accumulated the streams, established a cult following and most importantly, his shows are still engaging and exciting.
I know this is an unpopular opinion but it’s safe to say Sarkodie is a historical icon aside from being Africa’s best rapper. It was unimaginable how he performed live effortlessly with the band and created a befitting playlist with amazing song choices off his NO PRESSURE album and other value trending songs for the concert on the night. His dynamism and energy on stage were extremely spectacular.
Sarkodie
The event was well-coordinated, timely, and memory to behold. Ever since Sarkodie started staging his concerts, he has had outstanding sound quality, brilliant stage presence and competent production. Notwithstanding that, the way he interacts with his audience during every show without breaking a sweat is approvingly respectable.
He has one of the best production and creative team ever in the history of Ghanaian music. As a professional crowd-pleaser, he unquestionably knows how to give his fans an excellent performance.
