Stonebwoy thrills Washington DC for Ghana’s 63rd Independence Anniversary

WASHINGTON DC, USA, Monday March 7, 2020/Burniton Music Group – BMG/ – It was announced as an early show, so people started to trickle in by 9:30pm, enjoying the view the club’s balcony offered over the famous yard. DJ Justice played a fresh, diversified selection to which the dance floor gradually filled up, until, close to midnight, the warm-up act was announced.

Stonebwoy live in Washingston DC! On his current North American tour, the multiple award-winning reggae/ragga & dance-hall artiste visited the Club Elevate (March 6, 2020). From the beginning, he set a quick pace and, in between songs, sought an intimate, direct exchange with his audience, which by now had filled the club’s maximum capacity. Asking them where they are from, he welcomed each and every one. “Big up USA, Ghana, Jamaica, Senegal, Gambia, Kenya, the whole African massive.”

The riddims he had in store for the night were sent out by Stonebwoy personal DJ, in quick succession, making it hard to keep track. People Dey, Ololo (featuring Teni), Hero, Top Skanka, More, Take Me Away (featuring Kuami Eugene and KiDi), Shuga (featuring King Beenie Man), including two singles off the Anloga Junction album, thus, African Party and Good Morning etc. were among those presented and found favourable reception by the crowd.

The vibes reached a climax with “Say It”, “Biegya” and young chap, Larruso’s “Killy Killy”, the one other tune celebrating Dancehall music to the maxx. Pulling up the song thrice, most of the people present moved in unison to Stonebwoy’s lyrics “Aaaah We Ah Go, Kill Em Kill Em Kill Eeeeem, Dem Dead Again, Dem Dead Again!”, perpetuating the fun family feeling of this event.

After about three hours on stage, the 1 God, drenched in sweat by now, waved a final good-bye and left the event with a special surprise from Kwaw Kese, who performed his hit song Dondo. The tour continues on 13th March, at the Melrose Ball Room, New York City. He will be headlining Akwaaba Ghana, and event powered by Duke Concert.
