Manchester City have been beaten by Chelsea in the Champions League final tonight. Thomas Tuchel made three wins out of three against Pep Guardiola
City were in Porto for their first European Cup final, and could have completed a treble with a historic win. However, standing in their way were a Chelsea side managed by Thomas Tuchel, who won the last two meetings between these sides. Thousands of fans from both sides are in Portugal to soak up the atmosphere, although only 6,000 tickets were given to each club.
Pep Guardiola surprised everyone by naming Raheem Sterling in his starting XI but without a defensive midfielder. He said he wanted more attackers on the pitch, but Chelsea responded well and were better in the first half.
After Timo Werner missed three good chances, Kai Havertz scored just before the break, rounding Ederson to score what turned out to be the winner. Kevin De Bruyne went off injured, and City couldn’t find an equaliser in Sergio Aguero’s final game.
