Tony Dath honors Highlife legends with soulful new project “Adadamu EP”

Ghanaian artist Tony Dath is taking a bold step to honor his musical roots with the highly anticipated release of Adadamu EP — a heartfelt tribute to the timeless genre of highlife and the legendary artists who shaped its legacy.

“Highlife birthed me,” Tony says, setting the tone for an EP that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking. Adadamu, meaning “olden music” in Twi, taps into the core of Ghana’s cultural rhythm, drawing inspiration from the melodies and storytelling styles pioneered by highlife greats like Amakye Dede, Ebo Taylor, Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, and more — all of whom are celebrated on the EP’s cover art.

“This project is my way of saying thank you,” Tony shares. “Thank you to the legends who built this sound from the ground up. They created the concrete foundation on which Ghanaian music still stands.”

More than just a collection of songs, Adadamu EP serves as a bridge between generations. Tony Dath blends classic highlife sounds with a modern twist, ensuring that while the soul of the genre remains intact, it resonates deeply with today’s audience. His smooth vocals glide over live instrumentals, warm guitar riffs, and danceable percussion — staying true to highlife’s roots while embracing fresh expression.

Adding to the project’s significance is its visual tribute — a striking collage of Ghanaian music legends who have shaped highlife’s sound and spirit. It stands as a statement of gratitude, legacy, and cultural preservation.

Adadamu EP will be released next month and will be available on all major streaming platforms under AFJ Liberté Group Records. As the EP rolls out, fans and music lovers are encouraged to stream, share, and celebrate this bold musical homage — a call to honor the past while dancing into the future.
