Tosh TV and Tosh FM with support from the Embassy of Denmark in Ghana launched the 2024 Volta for Peace Project with a peace concert in Ho that brought together peace and human rights activists, politicians and musicians to call for peace in Ghana’s pending December elections.
The Volta for Peace project by The CEO Mr Anthony Dagbey (Tony D)Tosh media is one of eight projects supported by the Embassy of Denmark in collaboration with the West Africa Network for Peace-building (WANEP), in support of SDG 13 and 16 across nine regions of the country.
The Independence day Peace Concert held at the Woezor Hotel in Ho brought together dignitaries from all walks of life including Traditional and Religious Leaders, Political Leaders and Parliamentary aspirants of all the political parties, CHRAJ, NCCE, CSOs, youth and women groups in the region.
In a keynote address delivered on his behalf, the Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Archibald Letsa, called on Ghanaians to go into the electioneering activities with the sole aim of keeping the nation peaceful.
Apostle Seth K. Mawutor, Regional Chairman of the National Peace Council (NPC) reiterated the need to place “Ghana first as Ghana is the only country we can call ours”. He added that, the elections are not do-or-die affairs and therefore called on the parliamentary aspirants to concede defeat should they lose the elections in order to give peace a chance. He also emphasized the need to use civil and decorous language during their campaigns and respect the rights of dissenting political persuasions.
Hon. Edem Kpotosu, the parliamentary aspirant of the NDC, Hon. Divine R. K. Bosson, the parliamentary aspirant of the NPP. Mawulorm Kwame Klutse, Independent Candidate took their turns to pledge peace during the 2024 elections.
The candidates flanked by traditional and religious leaders, in a symbolic gesture of ensuring a peaceful electioneering process held hands together to declare a collective pledge of peace before, during and after the December 2024 elections.
The Volta for Peace concert which is billed to be held at four locations in the Volta region is also supported by the youth oriented group, Trans4orm Ghana, Adonai Estates, Emmanuel Medical Centre, Victor Electronics and Regional Service Chiefs from the Ghana National Fire Service, Prisons Service, Ghana Police Service, the Regional Chief Imam, Sheik Abdul Razak Abubakar, Representatives from the Electoral Commission, Rev. Dr. Bright Charis Adonai, CEO of Adonai Group of Companies, Torbui Dzegblade IV, Paramount Chief Adaklu Kodzobi, Mama Viwonor II, Ho Bankoe and Torgbui Akronfi Dzaba III.
