Tourism Ministry: Hon. Dzifa Gomashie receives Mawuko Kuadzi, other Creatives following Artios Award Win

 

On Friday, March 21, 2025, Ghana’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Arts, Madam Dzifa Gomashie, welcomed celebrated casting director Mawuko Kuadzi and a delegation of Ghanaian creatives at her ministry to officially present Ghana’s historic Artios Award win, and discuss strategic initiatives to position Ghana as Africa’s creative hub following this remarkable achievement.

 

The delegation was led by Nana Dwomoh-Doyen Benjamin, Executive Director of the African Chamber of Content Producers, and included industry icons such as Veteran actor Fred Amugi, celebrated actors Chris Attoh and Peter Ritchie, Ghanaian actor Jude Koranchie, veteran actress Myna Otto, Ghanaian film critic Tony Asankoma, and MK Casting Executive Secretary, Esther Kumawu.

During the meeting, Nana Dwomoh-Doyen Benjamin emphasized the continental significance of the Artios Award win, stating that the team has been dedicated to building a Pan-African creative economy to be linked to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA). He highlighted that this achievement is part of their intentional strategy to elevate Africa’s creative industry.

 

He further revealed plans for a Pan-African feature film production in Uganda, in collaboration with the Office of the President of Uganda and the Uganda Communications Commission as part of the grand Pan-African vision.

 

Additionally, he mentioned the team’s engagements with African High Commissions in Ghana and plans to meet more ambassadors to foster collaborations under AfCFTA that will promote Africa’s creative economy.

 

Madam Dzifa Gomashie, accompanied by her Deputy Chief Director, Director of Tourism, and Director of Creatives, expressed her appreciation for the visit and assured the delegation of her unwavering commitment to the growth of Ghana’s creative industry.

 

She pledged the Ministry’s support in working with the team to facilitate discussions with international partners and ambassadors to strengthen creative industry collaborations that will benefit Ghana and the broader African continent.

 

“We are determined to harness the full potential of our creative talents and position Ghana as a beacon of innovation and culture in Africa. This Artios Award win is not just a triumph for Ghana but a demonstration of the incredible potential of the African creative industry and the magnificent individual talents we have as a country.

 

In this light, the ministry will give you all the necessary support needed to ensure you succeed at your grand vision for Africa”, she said.

 

Veteran actor Fred Amugi and celebrated actor Chris Attoh both pledged the creative industry’s support for the minister and assured her of their continuous engagement and constructive feedback. They also emphasized the importance of her leadership in driving strategic partnerships for Ghana’s creative industry.

 

Mawuko Kuadzi highlighted the importance of the Artios award, stating that he plans to use the networks and opportunities from this international recognition to contribute to the industry’s development. He also informed the Ministry of his willingness to provide support and expertise whenever required.

 

The meeting concluded with the official presentation of the Artios Award to Madam Dzifa Gomashie, marking a pivotal moment in Ghana’s journey toward becoming the epicenter of Africa’s creative economy.
