Amerado has downplayed the importance of the Grammy Awards by insisting that the prestigious award scheme should not be a standard to measure the greatness of an artiste. Speaking on Cape Coast-based Asaase Radio’s Nitro Avenue show with Candymann, Amerado said the obsession with the award scheme and how people rate it highly to mean that those who have never won it have no significance is erroneous.
According to him, if one puts hard work into his craft and he’s recognised by the awardees, then it comes as a bonus but not a yardstick to elevate some artistes over their counterparts.
“Grammy is not a standard for greatness; I don’t believe that. We don’t have to accept the notion that, a musician must win a Grammy before he or she is respected. If an artiste is able to grow from steps one to two, that’s enough. If the Grammy comes, fine; that’s a bonus.” he concluded.
Amerado was signed to the record company MicBurnerz Music by music producer, sound engineer, and A&R Azee Ntwene after coming third at the Solid FM Freestyle Show in 2015.
Amerado appeared on a song by Mix Master Garzy that was written to encourage peace in the run-up to the 2016 general election in Ghana. Amerado launched his first single I AM the following year, and in January 2017 Pulse Ghana listed it as one of the top 10 Ghanaian songs. That November, he released his debut EP, Rapmare. Amerado appeared on Sarkodie’s hip-hop song “Biibi Ba” in 2018, which was nominated for the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ Best Hiphop Song.
