Priddy Ugly tells Apple Music about Recording His Final Album, ‘DUST’I’d already made the decision maybe four years ago. A lot of the music you’re going to be hearing from me is music that I recorded a year ago, and I kind of haven’t been recording since. After I recorded this album I just needed to take a break. I’ve been doing this for like 17 years, and because I put so much of my life into the music that I make, having to do this continuously – bear in mind you have to go through trials and tribulations, live through life to even write about life – I don’t want to lose myself in the music.

Priddy Ugly tells Apple Music about the Meaning behind ‘DUST’

DUST is the funeral of a lot of the things and ideas that I’ve placed in my heart and my mind 17 years ago. I have a different outlook on life, I’ve gone through so many things – my perspectives have changes, my tastes have changed, my palates have changed, my message has changed as well – that’s why my album is called DUST because I’m trying to bury a lot of these concepts and ideas that I’ve held so deep in my heart, for it to give birth to something else. Just because something is buried doesn’t mean it’s like gone and forgotten, a lot of our history is buried so even in that dust is artefacts, secrets and scribes so I’m looking forward to figuring out what’s beneath all this dust, or when the dust clears… what comes out of it?

Priddy Ugly tells Apple Music about how He Manages Life in the Public Eye

We’ve been doing this thing a very long time, so we come from being rejected at auditions. I come from my sporting background, so I’m used to going trials and not making it or having
people speak about you – people who you’re in competition with.

I actually experienced that in real life so now when it comes to being public figures and we’re experiencing it on social media, it’s just another day for me. People are going to talk nonetheless, but it’s just something I want us to teach our child, that same level of resilience.
