Samuel Laverse, popular as DJ Lawva, President of the Sierra Leone DJs Union (SLEDU) has arrived in Ghana to participate in the DJs Union of Ghana Health Walk dubbed DJUGA Health Walk, under the theme ‘healthy DJs, stronger industry’, taking place this Saturday the 30th of July 2021 in Accra.
The fitness walk with Ghana DJs is geared towards keeping the DJs healthy to productively trade their arts effectively. To encourage the culture of exercising and healthy living among Ghanaian DJs and other professionals in the creative arts ecosystem in Ghana, the walk, christened DJUGA Health Walk, will draw Disc Jockeys and other professionals within the music industry in all regional capitals and will end with an aerobics session and health screening exercise.
DJ Lawva is currently receiving an overwhelming reception in Ghana just after he jetted in Accra on Wednesday morning. He has already started networking with Accra based DJs for the Promotion of Sierra Leone Music in Accra.
On Thursday, DJ Lawva signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of the Sierra Leone DJs Union with the DJs Union of Ghana (DJUGA). The two Unions entered into a bilateral relationship to establish and foster an effective and systematic working relationship with colleague African DJs.
The President of DJUGA who is currently out of Ghana was represented by his Vice President, Hubert Kofi Anti, while SLeDU was represented by its Prexy, Samuel Laverse. Also present at the signing ceremony was the founder of the DJs Union of Ghana, Merqury Quaye, Acting President of the Musicians Union of Ghana, Bessa Simons and other industry stakeholders and the media.
The DJs Union Of Ghana (DJUGA) Health Walk is the first of its kind for Disc Jockeys to be held in Ghana. All Covid-19 protocols will be observed.
