Liverpool kick off their Premier League campaign with a 4-3 win over Leeds United in a very entertaining contest at Anfield. Mohamed Salah was the star of the show for the home side, starting his season in perfect fashion with a hat-trick. The Egyptian scored two penalties and a well-placed volley, while Virgil van Dijk notched the other for the Reds.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men put forward a spirited effort against the reigning champions, coming from behind three times. However, a late mistake from club-record signing Rodrigo Moreno allowed Salah to win the game for the hosts from the spot.
Although Leeds were poor at the back, they played good football. There’s plenty of encouragement for the Whites to level this game once again.
It has been frenetic opening 35 minutes at Anfield. Both managers will be pulling their hair out at the standard of the defending on show, but it has made for an entertaining contest.
