Ghanaian Entertainers deserve commendation for their work amid COVID 19 crisis — Hon. Mark Okraku-Mantey

The Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, has lauded Ghanaian entertainers for staying consistent despite challenges they faced amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Announcing the ultimate winner at the second edition of the Entertainment Achievement Awards (EAA), Mr. Okraku-Mantey said local entertainers deserve the public’s support and patronage to make them feel appreciated.

According to him, celebrating creative personalities will motivate them to give off their best to entertain Ghanaians and promote the country globally.

Efforts by the government of Ghana to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease led to the imposition of restrictions which affected the organization of entertainment programs as event venues remained closed for many months.

The EAA is an initiative by Citi TV to award excellence in the entertainment industry by honouring players who have distinguished themselves in the practice of their art.

20-year-old singer, Black Sherif, took the ultimate award to become the Entertainment Personality of the Year.

Performers on the night included Akosua Agyapong, Akwaboah Jnr., Kobi Rana, Bogo Blay, Abiana, and 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year, Diana Hamilton.

The 2022 Entertainment Achievement Awards was supported by GIPC, Kofi Abban Foundation, Good Day Energy Drink, Citi FM, and Ghanaweekend.com.
