Let’s go back to CD sales, streaming music isn’t our only hope — Talent Manager Kwesi Ernest

Artiste manager, Kwesi Ernest says the call for going back to printing of music on CD for sale is good one. According to him, the move will bring greater fortune to the music industry.

“I can tell you on authority that… there is no better business like the days of selling CD”

“All of us.. we need to start encouraging our artists and Ghanaians to start buying CD again like we used to.. because it brought a lot money and investors were able to get their money back for new projects” he told Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz.

Kwesi Ernest, who is also the CEO of Media Excel said the music industry saw much physical cash flow during the time when compact disc were sold. He further stated that having the hard copy of a record makes it easier for distribution in remote parts of the country and beyond.

“The music download has been limited to only people who are literate” he said when asked his opinion about selling music online.

The former manager for Praye, Becca, Joyce Blessing and Azigiza Junior thinks the government has a lot to contribute by establishing new compact disc plants in the country.

“All our CD plants we have in Ghana has been shut down because we have allowed the culture of online streaming to diminish our music industry” he lamented.

Responding to this, Mr. Logic who was also in the studio had this to say “Regardless of how online sales are… you can’t say we should neglect the traditional way of distributing our music”.
