MUSIGA pays courtesy call on Family of Former President, Jerry Rawlings

The leadership of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) have paid a courtesy call on the family of former President President J J Rawlings to commiserate with them.

The acting President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons expressed the grief of the music industry on the death of Papa Jay. He spoke of the special relationship between the Union and President Rawlings who always had some words of advice for the Union whenever the Union called on him.

He recalled the last time the Union’s leaders met him when he lost his mother.

Chairman of GHAMRO, Rex Omar lauded the support President Rawlings gave to the music industry. He recalled the presentation of the Union’s head office and the continued support he received along with his Nakorex group from Mr Rawlings.

The acting vice President of the Union, Rev Dr Thomas Yawson on his part assured the family of the support of the Union and the entire music industry in their moments of grief.

Responding on behalf of the family, Ambassador Victor Gbeho expressed the gratitude of the family for the kind words and expression of sympathy from the industry.

Dr. Ezanetor Rawlings, MP for Korle Klottey constituency and daughter of President Rawlings also expressed the family’s appreciation for the visit and support from the music industry.

Present at the meeting was former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings and widow of President Rawlings, Amina and Yaa Asantewaa, both daughters of President Rawlings.
The MUSIGA and GHAMRO delegations included Diana Hopeson ex MUSIGA President and GHAMRO board member; Chizzy Wailer, MUSIGA national organizer, Tagoe Sisters and evergreen stars Pat Thomas and Naa Amanua of Wulomei fame.
