MzVee Breaking ‘Lynx Jinx’: She bags first VGMA plaque after Label exit

Songstress Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda popularly known as Mzvee is continuing her winning ways as she has just bagged a Vodafone Ghana Music Award.

The ‘You Alone’ singer’s 2020 music video for the song ‘Baddest Boss’ featuring one-half of R2Bees, Mugeez was adjudged the best music video at the first lap of this year’s award show.

The event [Industry Night] was held yesterday June 25, whiles the final showdown is expected to hold today June 26.

This is the singer’s first award after her controversial exit from former record label Lynx Entertainment.

She is also the first ex-Lynx musician to win a VGMA.

MzVee beat stiff competition from colleagues Adina,  Amaarae, Diana Hamilton, Joey B, Kuami Eugene, Kweku Smoke, Mr Drew, Okyeame Kwame, and Pappy Kojo

Queen Vee grabbed three nominations at this year’s awards including Best Reggae Dancehall Song of the Year,” “Best Music Video of the Year,” and “Album of the Year.” and is hoping to win the rest tonight.

Reacting to the win on her official Instagram page she wrote “Wow! Baddest Boss featuring my Gee @mugeezxkamikaze and shot by @_justin_campos_ won BEST VIDEO at this years @ghmusicawards thank you to my team, fans and family who have been on this new journey with me. Akpe Na Me! Thank you!

Meanwhile, MzVee has become the most followed female Ghanaian musician on Instagram.

The ‘Vanity’ hitmaker hit the milestone after she gained a whopping three million followers on the picture and video sharing app, a few days ago.

MzVee has since her epic comeback last year soared higher than all of her colleagues. She within the space of fewer than twenty-four months released seven monster singles with scintillating videos to match.

Three of the singles were stand-alone, whiles four were off her highly acclaimed ‘InVEEncible’ album released in the same year.

In addition, MzVee had a collaboration with Trace TV for the release of her ‘You Alone’ video. She also bagged a collaboration with Jamaican musician Warrior King.

MzVee since leaving Lynx Entertainment has defied all odds with her feat described by entertainment journalist and pundit Kwame Dadzie as ‘breaking the Lynx jinx’.

Vee was also referred to as ‘one of Ghana’s most valuable assets’ by rapper and BET award winner Sarkodie.
