Rocky Dawuni’s Grammy-nominated Album listed in the Essentials Top 10 Roots Reggae Albums on Songlines UK

Ghana’s Grammy-nominated lead and International Music Icon, Rocky Dawuni, got into the global headlines again this week when is “Branches Of The Same Tree” got enlisted in the Essentials Top 10 on Songlines UK Magazine.
Coming from Ghana and Africa, thus, scoring this feat is heavily remarkable, owing to the amount of work a Ghanaian/African Musician has to do to match that global recognition within the Reggae Music circles on the international front. This should be another awakening call on Ghanaians and Africans to pay reverence and give more attention to seasoned musicians like Rocky Dawuni who always keeps upgrading his standards and setting the records.
Rocky Dawuni scored the first Grammy slot with his maiden nomination with “Branches Of The Same Tree” Album released in March 2015; the whole country (Ghana) went haywire when he was announced for “Best Reggae Album” at the 58th GRAMMYs alongside other notable global heavyweights like Morgan Heritage, Jah Cure, just to name a few.

Though Rocky Dawuni didn’t win that year, it opened a lot of doors for both Ghanaian and other African musicians doing Reggae Music.

For Rocky Dawuni, his style of music is called “Afro Roots”, a heavy blend of African ensembles with powerful messages conveyed in well-meaning lyrics to transform humanity; and all this have been evident in all his 8 studio albums. The latest one, “Voice Of Bunbon” (Volume 1), am EP released on November 30, 2020 delves more into the Afro sounds and familiarizing with his home region (home town), Bunbong, in the Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region of Ghana.
