Sunyani Fans ‘protest’ to Deri’s Kumasi song

 

It was a dramatic scene at the Cabin in Sunyani as Deri mounted the stage to perform his latest release song titled Kumasi’.

Patrons of the event who were thrilled not only by his energetic performance but by the content of the song,  responded excitedly by replacing the ‘Kumasi’ in the song with ‘Sunyani, calling for for Deri to do a remix of the song and change the Kumasi in the song with Sunyani because Sunyani also wants to own the song.

Hosted by Ghana’s finest Hypeman Merqury Quaye, the Guinness Bright House event which brought over a 1,000 music fans together, gave Deri the opportunity to perform to teeming music lovers in Sunyani; a performance the audience would miss for a long time.

Prior to the event, Deri told DJ Quest on Ark 107.1fm that the response by music fans to ‘Kumasi’ shows how Ghanaians cherish highlife music and encouraged his fellow musicians to compose more songs the world can identify Ghana with.

The Kumasi song by Deri which was published on all streaming sites on Friday, May 27, 2022 has garnered great radio airplays and excitement amongst music lovers across the country.

The song talks about a lady Deri adores and he further urges to meet in Kumasi where he would emphasize his love through a courtesy visit to Otumfuor.
